With the Internet being our number one source for information in today's world it's a great tool to research, buying stuff online and getting all our news. But, how often do you find yourself starting out researching for something and then find yourself hours later wondering what happened and how you got to that YouTube Video of the talking dog?
Well, while the Internet is an amazing resource for information on anything you might want, how can you quickly keep easy access to the information you want, and keep out the information you don't?
Keep all your news in one place.
Instead of manually going to sites to get the latest news you are after, let them all come to you instead without the need for you to track it all down. And... reduce the opportunity to get sucked in to non-important stuff.
The easiest way to do this is with an RSS reader.
In a nut shell, most news type sites have a feed that we call an RSS feed. As a user, you can subscribe to the feed from each of your favorite information resources and every time they have new stuff, It shows up in your reader.
You don't have to go to each site and search out the latest information. It all comes to you.
One great free tool for this is Google Reader (http://www.google.com/reader ).
Set up a free account with Google, and then you're ready to go. Now just take a trip to each of the sites that you usually go to to get your latest and greatest information.
Usually there will be a button or link to “Subscribe to this feed” or “RSS”. Just click the link. Many times it will ask you what you want to use to subscribe to the page. Google Reader will be one of the options.
Once you set this up the first time you will never have to go back to each site one at a time to see if they have new articles. Just log in to Google Reader and all the latest posts from each site will show up ready for you to scan through.
If you are someone that tries to keep up on the latest information in your industry, just by sing an RSS reader, you can save a ton of time each day and actually get more information than you usually would.
No distractions. No random surfing. Just the information you are really looking for.

Great tip Ely! I am one that gets on with a mission, then open an email, then go to another site, then another email...LOL. It's my ADD kicking in I guess.
Mike,
Thanks for the comment. Most of us have it. I like to call it Entrepreneur ADD. That's why I like tools like these. It helps me stay focused on the task at hand and keeps me from surfing a ton of other stuff that just wastes time.
And email is the worst part.
